Alejandro Valverde tames his gravel debut

Undeniable victory for Alejandro Valverde in his first competition with the new Movistar Team Gravel Squad. The Murcian rode solo practically from the start at his debut in La Indomable, included in the UCI Gravel World Series held this Sunday in the Almeria town of Berja over a route of almost 100 kilometers.

Valverde reached the finish line in a time of 3 hours and 26 minutes, ahead of Ismael Esteban by around 4 minutes. Third, completing a high-level podium in the discipline, was the young Briton Cameron Mason (Trinity Racing).

Statements collected by Marca at the finish line: “I’m happy to have come back like this. It’s been 100 kilometers at full speed. Going uphill I was going fast to try to make a difference, going downhill I was calm, because you can’t get lost. I stayed alone from kilometer 2 practically”
