Say goodbye

Say goodbye

Alejandro Valverde’s adventure in the professional peloton will come to an end over the next few weeks in Italy. A journey of more than two decades with which he has shone in most of the best competitions on the calendar, becoming a reference both nationally and internationally. That journey will conclude in a carousel of four one-day races that begins this Thursday with the Coppa Agostoni, a spectacular race of almost 200 kilometers that takes place around Lissone. This classic of small climbs will be followed on Saturday by the historic Giro dell’Emilia, a race clearly for climbers in which the final five steps to the San Luca climb stand out, the last one as the end.

The following week will bid farewell to the career of the the Movistar Team man in this sport, at least with a bib on his back. First on Tuesday at Tre Valli Varesine; a similar race in its development to the Coppa Agostoni, and finally the following Saturday in a Monument like Il Lombardía, an almost unbeatable setting with which to close his career against the great stars of the peloton, in a race where he has risen to second place on three occasions.
