Mountain before La Vuelta

Mountain before La Vuelta

Alejandro Valverde’s set-up phase continues prior to the start of la Vuelta a España in mid-August. After his competition last weekend in the Clásica de San Sebastián and in the Circuito de Getxo (9th), the cyclist faces the Vuelta a Burgos starting this Tuesday five stages where the mountains and the uphill finishes will be the constant with the exception of the second day.

The rest of the days will be very important in the outcome of the race, with arrivals uphill at the Burgos Castle and Clunia and two high-mountain stages, the first overcoming Picón Blanco on the way to Villarcayo and the second, the last of the race, on Saturday, with the traditional finale in Lagunas de Neila. Winner of the race twice (2004 and 2009), Valverde will say goodbye to one of the best races on the national calendar in a Movistar Team that will have another double winner here such as Iván Ramiro Sosa, Iván García Cortina, the Danish Mathias Norsgaard, Iñigo Elosegui, Antonio Pedrero and Lluís Mas.
