A walk through Tuscany
Few races in recent years have earned the prestige and admiration that Strade Bianche has generated in such a short time. The white roads cross again on Alejandro Valverde’s calendar after the Movistar Team’s precautionary measures after the Vuelta a Valencia prevented him from contesting the premiere of the Clásica de Jaén, that born in Spain following the footsteps of the tuscan race.
Having just won O Gran Camiño, Valverde returns to Siena this Saturday to compete in a 184-kilometre Strade Bianche and its traditional finale in Piazza del Campo after a tough entry down Via Santa Caterina. In between, long stretches of sterrato such as Monteroni d’Arbia or Monte Santa Marie and a final part with the passes through Vico d’Arbia, Colle Pinzuto and Le Tolfe. A classic that the Movistar Team cyclist already knows from previous participations, achieving two important podiums in the 2014 and 2015 editions.
