A new experience
Alejandro Valverde began his long career as a professional cyclist in the 2002 season. Two years before, Galicia had lost its historic race, so the Murcian was never able to participate.
Movistar’s caution, after the positives for Covid that appeared in Volta a Valencia, changed Valverde’s plans who, after not being able to participate in Murcia, Clásica de Jaén and Andalucía, resumes the competition in O Gran Camiño, a new four-day competition with which the Galician community recovers a professional race.
Valverde will therefore be able to take part in the Galician race, with four stages that seem exciting. The finish in Vigo will anticipate the arrival on top of the known for the Vuelta a España Mirador de Ézaro. No less attractive is the landscape of the Ribeira Sacra on Saturday, chaining three climbs before arriving in Luintra. As the end of the party, a 15 km time trial in Sarria.
The Movistar Team will present a strong block in Galicia. Alejandro Valverde will have the support of Gorka Izaguirre, José Joaquín Rojas, Antonio Pedrero, Jorge Arcas, Gonzalo Serrano and Iván Ramiro Sosa.
