The UAE Tour opens the 2021 World Tour season this Sunday. It is seven-days stage race that year after year attracts a significant participation to the United Arab Emirates. Alejandro Valverde already knows a competition that won in 2018, where a season later he claimed his first victory dressed with the rainbow jersey and that only twelve months ago stopped before ending due to the first cases of COVID in the international peloton.

It seems a race with four days clearly marked for the fast men. The 13-kilometer individual time trial of the second stage and the mountain finishes of Jebel Hafeet (third stage) and Jebel Jais (fifth stage) are the key points of a week that will serve to accumulate quality kilometers in the legs with a favorable weather and in front of a peloton full of stars.

Tadej Pogaçar, current winner of the Tour de France, leads a roster that includes Adam Yates, the last winner of the race, Mathieu Van der Poel, Chris Froome, Rigoberto Urán or Vincenzo Nibali. Valverde leads a well-balanced Movistar Team that headlines the debut of the Austrian Muhlberger alongside Villella, Torres, Elosegui, Pedrero and Carretero.
