The improvised World Championship

From Martigny (Switzerland) to the question if the World Championship would be held and, finally, to the Enzo and Dino Ferrari speed circuit of Ímola. In record time, the organizers of the World Championship in Emilia-Romagna (Italy) have prepared an express event.

The four races – men and women – will begin and end at the Italian racetrack, ensuring as far as possible social distancing in times of Covid 19. The road races will take place on a complicated 28.8 kilometer circuit. The men will complete nine laps, each of them with two small climbs totaling around 3 kilometers with areas reaching 14% at their point of greatest demand.

These are the most relevant data of the fourteenth elite World Championship of Alejandro Valverde -gold medal in 2018 in Innsbruck; silver in 2003 and 2005; bronze in 2006, 2012, 2013 and 2014-. The Murcian flew to Italy with the rest of the Spanish expedition direct from Paris as soon as the Tour ended. Throughout the week, the national team has recognized a circuit that they had not been able to visit before, since it was unveiled while they were in France.

Pascual Momparler, national coach, has pick an expert block for this appointment, entirely from the Tour de France. Along with the Murcian, Enric Mas and Marc Soler (Movistar Team), Luis León Sánchez (Astana), Mikel Landa and Pello Bilbao (Bahrain McLaren), Jesús Herrada (Cofidis) and David de la Cruz (UAE Emirates).
