Vuelta a la Comunidad Valenciana

Vuelta a la Comunidad Valenciana

Alejandro Valverde repeats the plan of the last two seasons. After debuting in the Challenge of Mallorca, where he got a second place in the Serra de Tramuntana Trophy and participated in the first victory of the Movistar Team campaign, in charge of Marc Soler, in the Andratx Trophy, he continues his Mediterranean tour starting this Wednesday the Vuelta a la Comunidad Valenciana.

This race has become an unavoidable event for many of the great figures of the international bunch since his return in 2016. The Murcian cyclist accumulates triumphs in its previous stage (2004 and 2007) and also in the modern one (2018), In addition to finishing in second place last year.

As usual, the race incorporates important novelties to a layout that maintains the five-stage scheme, starting in Castellón with one day, in principle, for the sprinters and a second day arriving in Cullera on a little hill that will surely mark the first differences. Another sprint in Torrevieja precedes the queen stage, ending in Bernia (Altea), rising before Confrides, Tudons and Benimatell. The capital will close again on Sunday this first stage race of the season in Spain.

Movistar Team will align a powerful block headed by Alejandro Valverde and Marc Soler, with very good riders for the mountain such as Davide Villella, Dario Cataldo, José Joaquin Rojas, Jorge Arcas and Sergio Samitier. The Briton Gabriel Cullaigh will be the man of the team in the sprints.
