A bone edema leaves Valverde without Giro
The world champion will not be able to take the start next Saturday May 10 in the 102nd edition of the corsa rosa. As a result of a fall on the previous Thursday to Liège-Bastogne-Liège, he couldn’t attend at the first Grand Tour of the season, what should have been his second participation in the Giro d’Italia. Valverde suffered a bone edema, detected on his return to Murcia, which already forced him to abandon the Belgian classic.
The Movistar Team cyclist will now continue with the recovery process guided by his team’s medical crew and by Dr. Francisco Esparza, who will monitor the evolution of this edema in situ. The priority will be avoid any risk to face with full guarantees the second part of the 2019 season.
