National Championships

As usual every season, Alejandro Valverde will participate during the weekend in the Spanish Cycling Championships, the great meeting of this sport in the country, which in 2018 is celebrated in various cities of the province of Castellón. The Murcian will double with the individual time trial and the road race on Sunday, both titles that he has already achieved throughout his career. The route twice: Talavera (2008) and Cáceres (2015) and the ITT in Ponferrada (2014). In addition, he has been decisive in the triumphs of his teammates, who add eight consecutive titles.

The ITT presents a route of 37.5 km around the municipality of Vall d’Alba. Valverde will be tested in a very important specialty, with tough rivals like his former teammate Jonathan Castroviejo (Team Sky). As usual, the road race on Sunday will close the championships, on a route of 216 km and triple ascent to the Desert of Las Palmas in the final part before concluding in Benicasim. It will be the last race of the Bala before returning in less than two weeks to the Tour de France.
