Movistar Team wins at Amorebieta

Alejandro Valverde has closed his preparation period before traveling to the Netherlands with a second place in the Klasika Primavera. The Murcian cyclist arrived to the finish line with his teammate Andrei Amador. The Costa Rican raised his arms after both attacked on the last lap of a tough circuit with climbs to Autzagane and Montecalvo.

Valverde closes his first part of the season with nine victories: the general classification and two stages of the Vuelta a Valencia, the GC and one stage of the Abu Dhabi Tour, the GC and two stages of the Volta Catalunya and the Grand Prix Miguel Indurain. In addition, he was second in the Vuelta a Murcia, third in the Serra de Tramuntana Trophy and fourth in Strade Bianche.

His challenge now will be the three big classics that start next Sunday with Amstel Gold Race. Next, he will go to Belgium to the Fleche Wallone, where he has won five times and, finally, Liege Bastogne Liege, the oldest race of the international calendar and that Valverde has won four times.
