Klasika de Primavera
Amorebieta closes this Sunday the great week of cycling in the Basque Country and Navarra with its traditional Klasika de Primavera. This race links with the Itzulia and the Grand Prix Miguel Indurain, where Valverde achieved last weekend his ninth win of the season. The Murcian cyclist face his last race before one of the main objectives of each season: the Ardennes Classics.
It is not just another competition. Valverde achieved here, fifteen years ago, one of his first triumphs as a professional, specifically the second of the 117 that currently make up his record. Later, he added two other successes (2004 and 2009) and three second places, in two cases collaborating in the triumph of a teammate.
The 64th edition of the Klasika de Primavera covers a distance of 171 km, recovering this year its usual circuit. The triple climb to Autzagane and Montecalvo are the key of a race that ends again in the city center of this town in Biscay.
