Remarkable Tour de France

Alejandro Valverde arrived at the start line of the Tour de France 2016 with very clear ideas: his goal was simply to help his teammate Nairo Quintana in the fight for the yellow jersey. The Spaniard had just completed a demanding Giro d’Italia (third overall) and, in theory, the French race could be very long for him.

However, Valverde has again demonstrated during these three weeks that he is not an average cyclist. Despite he has fulfilled his tasks with the Colombian, the Movistar Team rider has been able to ride with the best riders in the important days of the race, reaching an outstanding sixth place in the overall.

Valverde says goodbye to his ninth Tour de France from the podium in Paris, as an important part of a Team Movistar which repeats victory in the team classification. Now its time to think about one of the main challenges of his 2016: the Olympic Games’ road race in Rio de Janeiro.
