Crazy day at the Tour de France
Alejandro Valverde was one of the protagonists at the end of the 12th stage of the Tour de France, a day that should finish at the top of Mont Ventoux but, because of the wind, ended in Chalet Reynard, 7 km away from the top of this legendary port. Valverde attacked in the first ramps of this hard climb, selecting the group of favorites with numerical superiority of Team Sky. His movement finished the work of Geraint Thomas and Mikel Nieve (Team Sky).
Once caught, Valverde managed to resist in the group of favorites. Later, Froome attacked and at that moment Valverde started pulling hard on his teammate Nairo Quintana.
However, the stage would be marked by a racing incident. A motorbike stopped, apparently because of the spectators, and made Froome, Porte and Mollema fall down. The first two riders lost time but the judges decide to return the same time than the Dutch. Valverde ended among the best again working for Quintana and ranking sixth overall.
