Third position before the mountain

Alejandro Valverde is prepared for the second assault in the mountain in this Giro d’Italia after showing a very strong image during the first two weeks of racing. The Spaniard is third in the GC, only behind Bob Jungels (Etixx-Quick Step) and his Team Movistar partner, Andrey Amador.

Two difficult days, like last Tuesday in Sestola or Wednesday in Asolo, have demonstrated Valverde’s level who rode very strong in both stages, finishing in the favorite group behind Andrey Amador who tried to bring the pink jersey to Movistar with individual attacks at the end of each stage.

Tomorrow, begins one of the most complicated parts of this edition of the Giro, with three stages that will define a little more the general classification. On Friday, riders are going to face four ports of mountain before reaching Cividale del Friuli after the descent of the final climb. On Saturday, a menu of six ports and final in Corvara Alta Badia. Finally, on Sunday, a individual time trial in Alpe di Siusi to see how the forces walk after two difficult days.
