Alejandro out of the podium of the Basque Country for 3”

The Tour of the Basque Country 2014 finished today in Markina-Xemein with a 25, 9 kilometers. Before the start, Alejandro and  Alberto Contador were separated by nothing more than 12 seconds.

That ITT was a rather tough one with the ascensions of two difficult climbs: Gontzagaigana and Santa Eufemia.

Alejandro, who finished that sixth and last stage at the eight place, 1’02” behind German Toni Martin, lost his place on the final podium, being 5th overall 1’07” behind final winner Alberto Contador.
