After the first races of the year on national soil, Alejandro Valverde starts his first World Tour competition of the season in the UAE this Sunday: the UAE Tour. This a race that fulfills its first edition with this name (its the fusion of the Dubai Tour and the Abu Dhabi Tour), but that the current world champion already knows of his triumph last year in the last one, precisely the one included in the world circuit.
Seven days with opportunities for all types of riders, starting with a 16-km team time trial and highlighting the Jebel Hafeet climb of the third stage, a mountain where Valverde already won in 2018, and Jebel Jais of the penultimate stage. Also, watch out for Hatta’s uphill finish on Wednesday.
The Murcian cyclist will have at his side a powerful Movistar Team integrated by Andrei Amador, Lluís Mas, Rubén Fernández, Jaime Castrillo, Jasha Sutterlin and Nelson Oliveira. In front, important rivals like Tom Dumoulin (Sunweb), Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida), Primoz Roglic (Jumbo -Visma) or Richie Porte (Trek-Segafredo).
