Alejandro Valverde concludes this Saturday in Italy a long 2019 that began at the end of January with the races of the Challenge of Mallorca and closes eight and a half months later with the fifth and final Monument of the season: Il Lombardia.
This is an historic race, which this season celebrates 113 editions. Valverde accumulates two second places in 2013 and 2014. Without a doubt, it is the last great race of the season, on a route of 243 kilometers between Bergamo and Como, with the climbs to Madonna del Ghisallo, Muro di Sormano, Civiglio and San Fermo de la Battaglia as key points.
The Movistar Team rider arrives at the departure of the classic of the dead leaves after a good approach, with outstanding performances in Milano-Torino (2nd), Gran Premio Bruno Beghelli (2nd), Giro dell’Emilia (5th) or Tre Valli Varesine. In front of him await great rivals like Vincenzo Nibali (two-time winner), Egan Bernal, Michael Woods, David Gaudu or Primoz Roglic.
