Alejandro Valverde, operated at the HLA La Vega Hospital in Murcia

Alejandro Valverde has undergone surgery this Saturday morning for a fracture in the right clavicle produced during the seventh stage of La Vuelta a España. The intervention was carried out by doctors Francisco Esparza and Javier Hernández at the Hospital Grupo HLA La Vega in Murcia and has passed without complications.

The cyclist of the Movistar Team team had a fall on the ascent of Puerto El Collao, in a downhill section where he could not avoid a bump in the road that made him lose the control of his bicycle. Valverde attacked a few minutes before and even tried to continue in the race. His teammate José Joaquin Rojas had to help him to get back on the road after falling down a small embankment.

Valverde was forced to abandon La Vuelta. He was fourth in the general classification, offering a very good level in the demanding first week of the race.
