Again in the mix

Again in the mix

Alejandro Valverde achieved a second place in the centennial edition of Milan-Turin, the oldest race of the cycling calendar, which began to be organized in 1876. The Bala showed again a good shape three days before Il Lombardía, the last cycling Monument of the season and the final race in 2019 for a cyclist who has once again demonstrated his competitiveness since the first race of the year.

The double climb to Superga was once again the key in this race, with high level contenders such as Egan Bernal, Adam Yates, Jakob Fuglsang or Philippe Gilbert. However, it would be Michael Woods (Education First) who would achieve the victory with an attack within the last kilometer. Only Valverde could respond to conclude behind of the Canadian. Yates completed the podium.

Statements: Congratulations to Woods. I want to thank the team for the work they have done during the race. I would have liked to win but we have to be happy with the second place. Maybe I missed a little more of confidence in that last attack. If we analyze the week; fifth, second, yesterday the bad luck of the bike that made a mistake and today second again. I think they are good feelings before Il Lombardia.
