Alejandro Valverde will keep wearing the Movistar Team jersey for the next two seasons. The world champion has confirmed his commitment to Abarca Sports and Movistar Team in an event held at the Movistar Store on Avenida Libertad in Murcia, before the Spanish Championships that start this Friday in his home soil.
Eusebio Unzué, general manager of Movistar Team, has accompanied him in this announcement. Valverde will end his sports career at the end of 2021, at the age of 41, after two successful decades as a professional cyclist. Then, he will continue within the structure of Abarca at least another three years, as ambassador of the brand, supporting the young riders and developing different projects with this team
Valverde will fight for his third Spanish Championship this Sunday, after those achieved in Talavera (2008) and Cáceres (2015), or collaborate in the victory of a partner in this important event. For sure, it will be a very special race, with almost 200 kilometers, starting from Los Alcázares and arriving to Murcia and four climbs to the Sanctuary of la Fuensanta in the final part. This race means an awaited bath of masses for a cyclist very loved in his land.
