A crash ends with Valverde’s Tour de France

Alejandro Valverde left the Tour de France as a result of a crash in the first stage of this race, a 14-kilometer time trial in the German city of Düsseldorf. Valverde lost control of his bicycle in a left turn and impacted with his leg against a fence as a consequence of sliding on the wet floor. Quickly, both rider and staff of Movistar Team realized that he could not continue in the race, so he was evacuated by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he has undergone various medical tests to know the exact range of his injuries.

The first tests have ruled that Alejandro suffers a fracture in the kneecap in addition to several cuts in the tibia. Subsequently, additional tests have been performed on the ankle to check for other damages.

We’ll be waiting for you back as soon as possible. #VamosBala
