No problems in the early days of Giro d’Italia

The typical stress of the first days of a Grand Tour has been the main opponent of the candidates for the podium of the Giro d’Italia in its course by the Netherlands. This country has received with a barrage of public its 198 riders, that after three days between Apeldoorn, Arnhem and Nijmegen will resume competition on Tuesday in Italy, after a day of rest to facilitate the long journey to all the members of his caravan.

Valverde debuted last Friday in a Giro with a 23th place in the individual time trial of Apeldoorn, with victory for one of the favorites, Tom Dumoulin (Giant-Alpecin). Of the leaders, only Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) outdid the Murcian in 5 seconds. The remaining two days had the same outcome: victorious sprint for the German Marcel Kittel (Etixx-Quick Step). The best thing was that Valverde saved both days safely, perfectly protected by his fellows, who placed their leader in front positions at key moments of each stage.

The Giro will restart on Tuesday with the fourth stage between Catanzaro and Praia a Mare, a nervous journey in which riders must be alert to an end full of traps and several steep slopes in which everybody will have to keep the place.
