Fourth in Amorebieta

Alejandro Valverde returned to the competition this Sunday after several weeks of hard training to prepare his next objectives. The Spaniard did it in the Klasika Primavera de Amorebieta, where Movistar Team has achieved a perfect performance with a first place for the Italian Giovanni Visconti and a second place for the local rider Gorka Izaguirre.

Both have been part of the great breakaway of the day with Sergio Pardilla (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) and Valverde himself, who has celebrated the triumph of his team mate in the race that closed the great Basque week of cycling. The attack was created in the first of the three climbs to Montecalvo, 60 km away from the finish line. From that moment, there was a perfect understanding between the four escapees, who kept the distance.

Valverde now will rest for a few days before participating from next Friday in the Vuelta a Castilla y León, last race before his new assault in the Ardennes, where he will compete in Fleche Wallonne and Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
