Alejandro took place 3 in the first stage of the Volta a Catalunya (Calella-Calella, 159 km). Omega Pharma-Quickstep Belgian rider Gianni Meersman was the fastest today.

The Spanish rider went with a break that took place in the final descent. He is now 3rd overall and won a 4 seconds bonus thanks to his classification in the stage.
